The Inspiring Story of Hazrat Suleman (A.S.) and the Ant
Hazrat Suleman (A.S.), also known as Solomon in English, was one of the most prominent prophets of Allah. He was blessed with many extraordinary abilities, one of which was understanding the language of animals and birds. The following story of Hazrat Suleman (A.S.) and the ant teaches us important lessons about humility, responsibility, and Allah's divine system of providing sustenance.
Hazrat Suleman Observes an Ant
One day, Hazrat Suleman (A.S.) was sitting by the bank of a river, reflecting on Allah's creation. His attention was drawn to a tiny ant carrying a small piece of food toward the waterway. Curious about its actions, he observed the ant closely.
As the ant approached the water, a frog suddenly appeared and opened its mouth. The ant, along with the piece of food, climbed into the frog's mouth. To Hazrat Suleman’s (A.S.) astonishment, the frog then dove into the water and remained submerged for some time.
After a while, the frog resurfaced, opened its mouth, and the ant emerged. However, the piece of food was no longer with it.
The Mystery Solved
Intrigued by this strange occurrence, Hazrat Suleman (A.S.) called upon the ant and asked, “What was this adventure? Where did you go, and what happened to the food you were carrying?”
The ant replied, “O Prophet of Allah, there is a large, hollow stone at the bottom of the river. Inside the stone live several blind insects. Allah, in His infinite wisdom, has placed me in charge of delivering their sustenance. They cannot leave the stone to find food, so Allah has appointed me to ensure they are fed.”
The ant continued, “Allah has also provided me with the assistance of this frog. The frog carries me safely through the water in its mouth, protecting me from harm. When the frog reaches the stone, it opens its mouth in front of the hole, allowing me to enter and deliver the food to the insects. Afterward, the frog brings me back to the surface the same way.”
